Ride the High Trestle Trail in a Day
Back by popular demand, the BBC will be hosting a Ride on the High Trestle Trail between Woodward and Madrid, Iowa. Saturday, October 12th.
Our Fourth Ride on the Trestle.
Signature features:
- Single Day trip from Omaha, out and back. No overnight accommodation required. However, you may opt to stay in a hotel, camp spot or BnB.
- See the High Trestle during the Day and at night. Sunset is 6:38 pm with last light at 7:06 pm. minutes later. Then it would be short 3 miles back to the trailhead. Still time for a drive back to home in the Omaha Metro area.
- Enjoy lunch at the Whistling Donkey in Woodward, or the Flat Tire Lounge in Madrid.
- The High Trestle Trail is 25 miles long from Woodward to Ankeny, very flat and paved.
- NEW for 2024, there is now a connecter trail between Perry and Woodward, about 8 to 11 miles long. Explore this new trail that connects the High Trestle Trail to the Racoon River Valley Trail (72-mile loop).
- Leave the Omaha Metro on your own, it is about a 2.5-hour trip by car. Arrive at the Woodward trail head parking lot.
- Group photo at 1:30 pm at the Woodward trailhead, Then the ride to the Trestle. More photo opportunities. Then on your own until sunset.
- At sunset plan on returning to the Trestle for some fantastic views and photo opportunities. Stay as long as you like, but it really gets impressive after last light.
What you need to bring:
- You and Bike of course
- Water bottles
- Money for miscellaneous
- Helmets required.
- Appropriate clothing for the weather
- Bright lights (headlights 800 lumen or brighter) strongly recommended.
Details
- Registration is required for all attendees. This will provide a count.
- Non- club members must sign a waiver, as part of the registration process
- Club members must also register.
- In case of inclement weather (rain or extreme cold), this ride will be canceled and not rescheduled for this year. Notifications will be sent to all that register (which is another reason registration is required) and will be posted on the website and Facebook Event.
